I have added two new great websites to the blog (under the WEBSITE tab at the top the blog).  Just click on the links and the sites will open in a new window.

One is called ABCya!  It is a great site with so many educational games and activities. The students may recognize some of these games as we use some on the SMARTboard during our learning centers.

I have also added a link to RAZ kids.  I have sent home the necessary information and passwords to the students who are ready to begin reading online.  I can track their progress, and so can you as their parent.  Happy Reading !!

Today is the day the teddy bears have their picnic!

Yesterday in our class we had a Teddy Bear Picnic.  The friends in our class were allowed to bring in their teddy bear for the day.  We read a great story all about a little girl who gets a very special bear names Corduroy.  Here is the book :

Then, we had a discussion about where we all got our special teddy bears and we shared the names of our bears.  We used our bears to practice sorting.  We put all our bears in the middle of the carpet and thought of ways to sort them.

We sorted the bears by size.  The small bears, the medium sized bears and the big bears.  

Throughout the day, we also gave our bears checkups using the doctor set in the dramatic play center.  We danced to the song "I am a gummy bear" and sang the "Teddy bear picnic" song.  We also had many books about bears in our reading center.  Here is one of our bear friends reading a book !

We had a very fun day!  Maybe the bears can come back to school on another day !

1.  Today, I went on the iPad.  I played a French game.  I practised my letters.  (Lakota)
2.  Today, I was coloring with Caleb.  We drew a heart and wrote "coeur" and we drew an arrow and wrote "flèche".  (Arjan)
3.  Today, I played at the car centre with Alicia and Victoria.  The golden car went far.  It travelled the distance of 8 of my feet.  (Olivia)
4.  This morning, I played Candy Land with Mrs. R.  I won!  I practised my French numbers and colours.  (Marcus)
5.  Today, I played teacher with Victoria.  (Par Par)
6.  Today, I made a dog for our adaptation chart.  The dog keeps its fur in the winter.  (Riya)

Another Cold Day !

Today at school :

1. At the writing center I wrote words on snowflake paper.  (Alicia)

2.  This morning at the writing center I was writing words like hockey, sledding and skiing.  These are winter words.  (Mason)

3. Today at the play dough center I was making pizza.  (Riya)

4.  Today with Marcus and Bailee and Allison , we played at the doctor center and we were helping the animals.  They had all kinds of sicknesses like allergies, coughs and sore heads.  (Caleb, Bailee)

5.  Today, me and Katherine played with the play dough.  (Parpar)

What did you do today?

1.  Today, at the drawing centre, I chose to draw a snowflake.  First, I drew an X, then I put a line in the middle of the X, Then, I did the Vs, then the triangles, then the dots.  Then, I did diamonds and hearts.  (Alicia)
2.  Today, at the Science experiment centre, with Elroei, I made a big track.  Elroei was trying to get her car to the end of the track.  I was trying to put my car in to push hers so hers could get out of the track.  I used a big wrapping paper roll, and then a little one.  (Caleb)
3.  When I played at the Science centre with cars and paper rolls, my car went farther than my friend's.  My car went faster because my roll was higher.  (Arjan)
4.  Today, I practised my letters and sounds with Mrs. R.  (Ayden)
5.  Today, I did art with Riya.  (Elroei)

What did you do today?

Today at school :

1.  I played in the dramatic play center.  We played in the caves with Emma.  I was a bunny and Emma was a bear and a mouse.  We were hibernating.  (Lakota)

Here is a picture of our dramatic play center.  These are bear caves and we can go in them with the stuffed animals to hibernate. 

2.  I was making a bed for your frog's teddy bear.  I used a box from the recycling bun.  (Cyrus)

3.   I was playing the ABCD game on the Smartboard.  (Matteo)

In this smartboard activity we have to put the mixed up alphabet back in order. 

4.  At the art center I made a creation.  (Alicia)

Note from Mrs. Mendonca : Today we continued to explore where animals go in the winter.  We read a great book about hibernation called "Bear Snores On".  Here are some of our ideas and a picture of the book.

What did you do today?

1.  Today, we did a puppet show.  We used a fly, a spider, and a bee.  (Victoria)
2.  Today, Mme Carroll said, "Bonne année grand nez!" And, she taught us to say, "Toi pareil grandes oreilles!"  It was funny!  (Justin)
3.  Today, at the back table, I ripped pieces of paper to make a collage of my favourite part of the book that Mme Carroll read.  My favourite part was when the 2 rabbits knocked on Sylvain's door.  (Alicia)
4.  Today, I tore paper to make snow.  (Matteo)
5.  Today, I went to the marble run centre.  It took a very long time to build my marble run.  I didn't quit.  I kept building it.  (Ayden)
